Global food prices increased in July 2025
- Global food prices reached their highest level in two years.
- Prices for meat and vegetable oils increased, while sugar and grain prices decreased.
- In Ukraine, food prices increased by 23.2% over the year.

In July 2025, global food prices rose. According to data from the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the food price index reached 130.1 points, which is 1.6% higher than in June.
Compared to July 2024, the index increased by 7.6%, but remains 18.8% lower than its peak reached in February 2022 after Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
Prices for vegetable oils reached a three-year maximum
The price index for vegetable oils rose to 166.8 points, which is 7.1% higher than the previous month and the highest level since 2022. The increase is associated with rising prices for palm, soybean, and sunflower oils.
Prices for dairy products are decreasing, except for cheese
The price index for dairy products in July stood at 155.3 points, which is 0.1% lower than the previous month, but 21.5% higher than a year ago. Prices for butter and milk powder have decreased, while the rising price of cheese partially compensates for the overall decline.
Meat prices have risen to record levels
The price index for meat in July stood at 127.3 points, which is 1.2% higher than the previous month and 6% higher than a year ago. Prices for chicken reached record levels due to high demand from China and the USA.
Sugar prices continue to decline
The price index for sugar in July stood at 103.3 points, which is 0.2% lower than the previous month and 13.5% lower than in July of the previous year. This marks the fifth consecutive month of decline.
Grain prices are decreasing, except for barley and corn
The price index for grains stood at 106.5 points, which is 0.8% lower than the previous month and 3.8% lower than a year ago. Global prices for barley and corn have increased, while prices for wheat have decreased.
In Ukraine, according to the State Statistics Service, in June 2025, the average prices for food products and basic necessities rose by 23.2% compared to June of the previous year.
