Ukrainian Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal held discussions with his Bulgarian counterpart Atanas Zapryanov, during which they discussed the continuation of defense support for Ukraine and security in the Black Sea.

Shmyhal reported this on his Telegram, noting that the main topics included support for Ukraine and security in the region. The minister stressed the joint goal — safe navigation, and proposed to involve Ukraine in initiatives for the expansion of the Black Sea with the participation of Bulgaria, Turkey, and Romania.

He also highlighted Ukraine's priorities regarding procurement and sectors of the defense industry, where potential cooperation with Bulgaria is possible. Among others, the Ukrainian side is interested in developing joint production, including within the framework of the European Defense Instrument (SAFE).

Shmyhal thanked Bulgaria for its assistance in countering Russian aggression and emphasized the importance of strengthening Ukraine's defense capabilities.
