The football club Lens officially signed a contract with the former winger of the French national team Florian Thauvin from the Italian club Udinese. The agreement was made for three years, and Thauvin will return to Ligue 1 after a four-year break.
Florian Thauvin, who last season captained Udinese in Serie A, scored all eight goals in the championship. According to information from the French sports publication L'Équipe, the transfer amounted to around 6 million euros.
Thauvin, who is 32 years old, previously played for Marseille, where he had the best years of his career, scoring 57 goals over three seasons. He was also part of the French national team that won the 2018 World Cup and played ten matches for the national team.
After spending several years in Tigres in Mexico, and then in Udinese, where he scored 15 goals in 73 matches, Thauvin returned to France. He will wear the number 10 at Lens.
The team will open their season in Ligue 1 with a match against Lyon on September 16 and will host Lille on September 21.
