Latvia is ready to join NATO initiatives for supporting Ukraine

President Volodymyr Zelensky held a telephone conversation with Latvian colleague Edgars Rinkēvičs, during which they discussed support for Ukraine and deepening European integration. Zelensky informed Rinkēvičs about Ukraine's diplomatic efforts and outlined key steps ahead.

Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine and other European countries need a reliable peace and guaranteed future. He stressed that this could be achieved with the assistance of the USA and unity in Europe. The leaders also discussed the new NATO initiative – the Priority Requirements List for Ukraine (PURL), which includes military assistance to Ukraine. Latvia confirmed its readiness to participate in this initiative.

Rinkēvičs noted Latvia's support for the PURL initiative and the process of Ukraine's swift accession to the EU. Zelensky also mentioned that Ukraine should open the first cluster of negotiations simultaneously with Moldova, as Ukraine has fulfilled all necessary requirements for European integration.
