On August 8, 2025, a telephone conversation took place between the President of Russia Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister-Minister of India Narendra Modi. During the conversation, issues related to Ukraine and the development of bilateral relations were discussed.

Modi noted that the conversation was productive and provided Putin with information about recent events in Ukraine. He also reaffirmed India's commitment to deepening strategic partnership with Russia. Modi expressed hope for a meeting with Putin in India later this year.

The Kremlin reported that Putin also discussed the results of his meeting with the U.S. representative for the Middle East, Steve Vitkoff, which took place on August 6. According to the Kremlin's information, Modi confirmed India's position regarding diplomatic resolution of the situation in Ukraine.

This conversation became part of a broader dialogue between Putin and world leaders, including Chinese leader Xi Jinping.
