The Boston Celtics officially announced the extension of the contract with head coach Joe Mazzulla for several years. This decision was made on August 8, 2025.

Mazzulla, who took over the team in 2022, expressed his gratitude for the support and the opportunity to continue working with the club. "This is truly a blessing. I would not have been here without faith, my friends, and family, as well as without the support of our owners and the team," he noted in his statement.

During Mazzulla's tenure, the team won the 18th championship, and the coach achieved an average performance rating above 60 percent for the season. The contract extension took place against the backdrop of rebuilding the team, considering the injury of Jaylen Tatum and the loss of such players as Kristaps Porzingis and Jerry Hield.

The president of basketball operations, Brad Stevens, emphasized that Mazzulla has the potential to lead a team that is only equaled by the league's most accomplished franchises. "He has worked hard and achieved impressive results during his three years in the head coach position," added Stevens.
