The Court Calls the Ministry of Justice Regarding the Epstein Case

  • Democracy Forward filed a lawsuit against the Ministry and the FBI
  • The Congressional Committee demands testimony from Epstein's victims
  • Trump denies connections with Epstein

Washington (AP) — The civil organization Democracy Forward has filed a lawsuit against the Ministry of Justice and the FBI, demanding access to documents related to the investigation of sex trafficking involving Jeffrey Epstein. The lawsuit was filed in federal court in Washington last Friday.

The organization is seeking records related to communications between senior government officials regarding Epstein's documents, as well as any materials related to correspondence between Epstein and President Donald Trump.

This lawsuit is the first of its kind. The group asserts that it filed a request for information under the Freedom of Information Act, but has not received a response to date.

The court must ensure public access to important information, stated Skye Perryman, president of the organization. The federal government often withholds records related to criminal investigations.

Democracy Forward has filed dozens of lawsuits against the Trump administration, challenging various policies and executive orders of the president. The investigation has become a focal point of increased scrutiny following the announcement last month by the Ministry of Justice that it would not publish additional documents.

Meanwhile, the Committee on Oversight of the House issued subpoenas to the Ministry of Justice for obtaining files related to the investigation, within the framework of congressional investigations that, according to lawmakers, could reveal connections with Trump and other senior officials.

In 2019, Epstein was arrested in a federal prison, awaiting trial on charges related to sex trafficking. After his death, conservative theories began to emerge suggesting that the information collected by investigators and who else knew about his crimes against minors.

Trump denies knowing Epstein and claims that he severed ties with him long ago.
