Reaction of the International Community to Netanyahu's Plan Regarding Gaza

  • Netanyahu's plan for the occupation of Gaza has provoked international condemnation.
  • Germany has banned the export of weapons to Israel due to new military actions.
  • The humanitarian situation in Gaza is worsening, with increasing civilian casualties.

Israel is facing growing international criticism and possible sanctions following Netanyahu's announcement of a new military operation in Gaza. This plan, which envisions a complete evacuation of Gaza, is set to be completed by July 7, 2025, after which a northern part of the territory will become a zone for Israeli forces.

In response, key allies of Israel, such as Germany, have already banned arms exports to Israel, which could be used in Gaza. German Chancellor Friedrich Merz stated that the ban will remain in effect until further notice.

Many countries, including Norway, are also reconsidering their investments in Israeli companies. President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen has called for a review of Netanyahu's plans regarding Gaza, indicating potential repercussions for EU relations with Israel.

At the same time, Palestinian leaders, including Mahmoud Abbas, have described Netanyahu's plan as "unacceptable" and one that could lead to a "humanitarian catastrophe." Abbas has urged the international community to intervene to stop the implementation of these decisions.

As of 2023, the situation in Gaza has become critical. According to the Ministry of Health in Gaza, as a result of the conflict, over 61,000 Palestinians have been killed, and the total population of Gaza is around 2.1 million.

Netanyahu's plan envisions control over a larger part of Gaza, which raises concerns among international leaders about further escalation of conflict. According to Israeli military sources, control over Gaza could reach 85%, should Gaza-Siti be captured.

Despite international pressure, Netanyahu asserts that Israel has no intention of maintaining Gaza, but rather aims to establish a "security perimeter."

Meanwhile, HAMAS warns that the capture of Gaza-Siti could lead to "victims" among captured hostages, of which there are currently about 50.
