Attack by Russia on SOCAR oil depot in Ukraine

On the night of September 8, 2025, Russia launched a strike on the oil depot of the Azerbaijani company SOCAR in the Odesa region, using Shahed drones. As a result of the attack, a fire broke out and there was damage to the diesel pipeline.

The fire was quickly extinguished, but four SOCAR employees sustained serious injuries and were provided with emergency medical assistance. The assessment of losses and emergency repair work is ongoing.

Although official data on the investigation has not yet been released, sources confirm that the accuracy of the strikes by the five guided drones indicates that the oil depot was the primary target of the attack.

This is already the second major strike in recent weeks on critical infrastructure in Ukraine linked to Azerbaijan. Earlier, not far from Orlivka, a gas distribution station was also attacked, which is part of the Trans-Balkan gas pipeline.

In connection with repeated statements about the activities of Azerbaijan as "legitimate targets" in pro-Russian media, sources emphasize the high risk of new attacks on SOCAR facilities.
