US Ambassador Criticizes UK Prime Minister Over Conflict in Gaza
- Mike Huckabee compared the position of UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer to the possibility of defeat in war.
- Starmer closed to the imposition of sanctions, claiming that the actions of Israel lead to bloodshed.
- Huckabee stated that Israel has sent aid to Gaza, but it does not reach the recipients.
The US Ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, expressed sharp criticism directed at UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, comparing his position to the possibility of defeat in World War II. This occurred after Starmer justified the Israeli government's decision to expand military actions in Gaza.
Huckabee, in his posts on social media, questioned why Israel should be supplying Hamas and providing them with aid, while Israeli recipients suffer from hunger. He stated: "Did Great Britain give aid to the Nazis and provide them with food? If you had been Prime Minister then, we would have been speaking German!"
These comments sparked outrage, especially since Huckabee recalled the bombing of Dresden by allied forces, which resulted in numerous civilian casualties.
In response to this, Starmer expressed the opinion that Israel's actions do not lead to the end of the conflict and only contribute to further bloodshed. He closed to the immediate imposition of sanctions.
In addition, Huckabee noted that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has sent 2 million tons of aid to Gaza, but part of it does not reach the recipients, asserting that Hamas intercepts the aid.
Starmer attempted to strengthen ties with US President Donald Trump, inviting him for a state visit next month, which underscores the importance of relations between Great Britain and the US on the international arena.
