Flick to Miss First Match of Champions League Due to Sanctions
- Hans Flick received a one-match suspension from UEFA.
- Lamine Yamal and Robert Lewandowski have been fined for inappropriate behavior.
- The club "Barcelona" also received penalties for the actions of their players.
The head coach of "Barcelona" Hans Flick will not be able to be present at the first match of the Champions League for the 2025-2026 season. He received a one-match suspension from UEFA for inappropriate behavior that occurred during a friendly match against "Inter" in the spring, where his team lost by a total score of 7-6.
Flick was also fined £17,000, and his assistant Marcus Sorg received the same sanction. The opening of the Champions League is scheduled for September 16 to 18.
In addition, the attackers of "Barcelona" Lamine Yamal and Robert Lewandowski were fined €5,000 each for not adhering to the anti-doping control instructions during that same match.
The club also received a fine for the behavior of its players: €5,250 for the use of prohibited substances and €2,500 for the violation of stadium regulations.
