The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, had a conversation on September 8, 2025, with the President of Southern Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa. The leaders discussed ways to achieve peace between Ukraine and Russia.

Ramaphosa shared details of his conversation with the President of Russia, Volodymyr Putin. Zelensky noted that Ukraine's position is clear: the path to peace must begin with the cessation of hostilities. He emphasized that Ukraine is ready for meetings at the highest level in various formats.

Zelensky also informed Ramaphosa about his contacts with U.S. President Donald Trump and European leaders. He stated that much has already been done to coordinate a unified position with partners, which must be strong. This concerns the future architecture of security not only for Ukraine but also for Europe and the entire world.

According to information from the Office of the President of Southern Africa, during the conversation with Putin, President Ramaphosa expressed support for peace initiatives that could lead to the end of the war and the establishment of lasting peace between Russia and Ukraine.
