Washington and Moscow are working on an agreement to end the war in Ukraine. This could solidify Russia's occupation of territories captured during the invasion, Bloomberg reports.
According to the information, representatives of the USA and Russia are discussing the territory for the planned meeting between Presidents Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin. Before signing the agreement, the USA is seeking to receive support for Ukraine and European allies, while the details of the agreement remain unspecified.
Putin demands that Ukraine return all territories of eastern Donbas to Russia, as well as Crimea, which requires Ukraine to withdraw troops from parts of Luhansk and Donetsk regions still controlled by Kyiv. This would become a significant condition for Putin, who is eager for direct negotiations with the USA.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky stated that the country receives support from partners under new conditions. Trump set a deadline for Russia to achieve peace with Kyiv, initially giving 50 days, but then shortened it to 10 days until August 8.
However, according to Zelensky's words, the Russian side does not cease its attacks and continues shelling. He also reported new attacks on civilian objects, including the bombing of a 13-year-old boy in Kherson by Russian artillery.
