Bao Fan, a prominent investment banker and founder of the investment bank China Renaissance Holdings, was dismissed from duty after being detained for more than two years by Chinese authorities. This information was confirmed by sources who wished to remain unnamed.

Bao's detention has sparked a notable decline in the financial sector in China in 2023, when the company announced that it could not connect with him. Bao, who founded the bank in 2005 and owns nearly 49% of the shares, was one of many high-profile executives who vanished without a trace amid a massive anti-corruption campaign initiated by President Xi Jinping.

His dismissal has become a focal point in the ongoing business distrust in China, particularly among technology companies whose businesses have suffered for several years. The Chinese private sector is facing difficulties due to weak domestic demand and the ongoing debt crisis in the real estate sector.
