This was reported by RBC Ukraine, Ukrinform.
President Volodymyr Zelensky in his evening address called for simultaneous negotiations regarding the accession of Ukraine and Moldova to the European Union.
Zelensky noted that Ukraine has already done a lot to help Moldova move together with it on the European path. "We are helping to stabilize Moldova, so that Russian aggression does not have much success. We support the stability of Moldova's energy sector. At the same time, we emphasize that Moldova deserves candidate status. Our lower position is based on fairness and real achievements," said the President.
He also emphasized that Ukraine has fulfilled all requirements for the opening of the first negotiation cluster regarding accession to the EU, and Europe recognized this. "Any artificial delays or divisions will only hinder Europe. Ukraine and Moldova need to move forward together in the negotiation process. I urge all leaders, countries, and the European Union to support us in this, to support the rule of law in Europe," he added.
During a conversation with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk on September 8, Zelensky and Tusk agreed that Ukraine and Moldova should simultaneously open the first negotiation cluster. Both countries began their path of European integration together and should continue to move synchronously.
Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andriy Sybiha also emphasized that Ukraine and Moldova need to start negotiations on EU accession together. According to him, everything is ready for this step. Although Moldova lacks the prerequisites to start negotiations, Ukraine is blocked by the pro-Russian regime in Hungary. Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orban, a close ally of Russian leader Vladimir Putin, repeatedly made absurd statements about Ukraine, demanding to justify its actions.
