Stefano Vukov, coach of 2022 Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina, has regained the opportunity to coach after the lifting of his annual suspension from the WTA. This occurred following a successful appeals process that included private arbitration hearings.
Vukov had been temporarily suspended for violating the WTA code of conduct, which occurred prior to this year's French Open. The WTA confirmed that Vukov now has the right to receive accreditation for tournaments.
During the suspension, he could not enter the stadium and other venues that hosted Rybakina's training sessions. Although he could not be present at competitions, Rybakina continued to collaborate with him between tournaments. According to the WTA, their investigations revealed instances of psychological abuse that contributed to health issues for the athlete.
Rybakina confirmed that Vukov remained part of her team, despite the suspension, and continued to collaborate with her during the preparation for competitions. She won a tournament in Strasbourg with new coach David Sanguinetti, but also credited Vukov for his contribution during her appearances.
