Indiana Fever prepares for match against Chicago Sky without Katelyn Clark

  • Katelyn Clark and two Indiana players will miss the match against Chicago Sky
  • Aliyah Boston becomes the team's leader during the absence due to injury
  • Fever suffered the biggest loss of the season to Phoenix Mercury

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — The Indiana Fever team is preparing for the match against the Chicago Sky on Saturday without Katelyn Clark, as well as two other key players who suffered injuries that ended their season. Clark has not played since suffering a right foot injury in the previous match before the break against the Sky. Coach Steven Wight has not provided updates on the timeline for Clark's return.

Clark's absence has become even more serious due to injuries to Sidni Colson and Aari McDonald. Colson suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament during the first quarter of the game in the fourth, while McDonald fractured her right ankle in that same match.

McDonald was drafted in the WNBA draft in 2021 under the third overall pick. She averaged 9.8 points, 4.7 assists, and 1.3 turnovers at the beginning of the season. Colson joined the team as a free agent in July, averaging 2.4 points and 2.0 assists in 30 games.

The Fever has not announced any changes to the roster to fill the vacant spots.

The upcoming game for Indiana will be against the Chicago Sky. Both teams will be without their star players, as Clark and Angel Reese from Chicago have also suffered injuries. This match is expected to affect the continuation of the playoff race, which began back in college.

The last loss for the Fever against Phoenix Mercury was by a score of 95-60, becoming the biggest loss of the season. The team showed weakness without Clark, who has missed nine games due to injury.

Aliyah Boston, who is currently the team's leader, continues to demonstrate strong performance, averaging 15.1 points and 8.4 rebounds per game. Her performances will be critically important for the Indiana team in the most crucial matches, especially since the team is eager to maintain its chances of making the playoffs.
