Inclusion of New Electric Vehicles in Government Grants

  • The British government has added 13 new electric vehicles to the grant program.
  • The grant for electric vehicles allows for a subsidy of up to £1500.
  • A ban on the sale of new petrol cars is planned from 2030.

The government of Great Britain has announced the inclusion of 13 models of electric vehicles in the new grant program. Among them are cars from Nissan, Renault, and Vauxhall. The grant allows for a subsidy of up to £1500 when purchasing certain models that cost up to £37000.

Along with the new conditions, the grant will also apply automatically at the time of purchase. Earlier, six models from Citroën that also became participants in the program were announced. The government hopes this will help lower the barriers for drivers who want to switch to electric vehicles.

The grant for electric vehicles is part of a program totaling £650 million, which aims to facilitate the transition to environmentally friendly cars. Transport Minister Haidyn Alexander stated that this step is a move towards reducing expenses on electric vehicles for families.

The list of models that qualify for the grant includes:
Citroën: e-C3, e-C4, e-C5, e-Berlingo.
Renault: Alpine A290, Megane, 4, 5 and Scenic.
Nissan: Micra and Ariya (the discount on Ariya will be available from September 13).
Vauxhall: Corsa Electric, Combo Life Electric, Astra Electric, Mokka Electric, Frontera Electric, and Grandland Electric.

Some models, such as the Nissan Ariya, require a price reduction to meet the program's criteria. Manufacturers that do not meet the environmental standards may receive less support, which could affect the sales of electric vehicles.

The government plans to ban the sale of new petrol and diesel vehicles from 2030, emphasizing the importance of transitioning to electric transportation means.
