Videos that appeared on social media show how Crosby gestures at the fans and attempts to interact with them, after which Smith responds to him. When the team exited onto the field, Smith made an inappropriate gesture to the fans, and Crosby repeated it.

One of the fans held up a sign that read: "Bigger bust — Jimmy or Jamarkus Russell?" This referred to the former Raiders quarterback who failed to realize his potential.

The game also marked the first for head coach Peter Carroll against the Seahawks since he was fired after the previous season of 2023. The match ended in a tie, 23-23.

A representative of the Raiders declined to comment on the situation. It is currently unknown whether the NFL is investigating this incident, as the league did not respond to a request for comment.
