Countries around the world condemn Israel's plans regarding Gaza
- Australia and European countries condemn Israel's plans
- Germany has suspended the export of military technology to Israel
- Calls for humanitarian aid to Gaza are increasing
The Minister for Foreign Affairs of Australia Penny Wong joined an international condemnation of Israel's plans to control Gaza in a new military operation. In a joint statement issued on September 9, 2025, she, along with colleagues from Germany, Italy, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom, emphasized that these plans could violate international law and endanger the lives of civilians.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu plans to take full control over the largest city in Gaza, which could lead to the mass displacement of nearly a million Palestinians. Meanwhile, Germany has announced the suspension of military technology exports to Israel, which is a significant step from one of Israel's largest international allies.
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz stated that the new military actions by Israel in Gaza undermine the achievement of goals such as the release of hostages and the establishment of a peace agreement. It was noted that further actions by Israel could provoke even more humanitarian catastrophes in the region.
Countries such as Germany, the USA, and Italy traditionally support Israel, but the new decisions have raised alarm among European leaders. They express a demand for Israel to ensure access to humanitarian aid for civilians in Gaza, considering the critical situation that is developing in the region.
In a statement, the foreign ministers of the condemning countries that signed the joint statement also demand that Hamas release all hostages without delay.
