Astronauts return to Earth after mission in space

  • The Crew-10 team returned from the ISS after 146 days in space
  • Astronauts conducted over 200 scientific experiments
  • Commander Wilmore announced his retirement after three decades of service on the station

Four astronauts of the NASA Crew-10 mission returned to Earth from the International Space Station (ISS) on Friday, using the SpaceX Dragon capsule. Their journey lasted about 18 hours, and they are expected to splash down off the coast of California on Saturday at 15:33 UTC.

The crew included American astronauts Ann McClain and Nikolai Aiyars, Japanese astronaut Takuyas Onishi, and Russian cosmonaut Kirill Peskov. The return of the astronauts completes the tenth rotation of NASA’s commercial crews.

During their 146 days on the ISS, the crew conducted over 200 important studies, including experiments on plant growth and cell behavior in microgravity. The Crew-10 mission began on February 14, replacing Crew-9, whose members spent nine months on the station due to issues with the Boeing Starliner capsule.

Last week, astronauts Zena Cardman and Mike Fink, Japanese astronaut Kimiya Yui, and Russian cosmonaut Oleg Platonov joined the crew on the ISS for a six-month mission.

It is noteworthy that Commander Wilmore, one of the astronauts who was detained on the station, announced his decision to retire after 25 years of service at NASA.
