The head coach of Liverpool, Arne Slot, stated that normally his team is considered the favorite to retain the Premier League title. He emphasized that last season's success is the main reason for this status, rather than activity in the transfer market.

Liverpool, which won its 20th title of English champions last season, has strengthened its squad with new players, such as Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike, Jeremie Frimpong, and Milosh Kerkez. However, the team has also suffered losses: Trent Alexander-Arnold moved to Real Madrid, Luis Diaz to Bayern Munich, and Yarell Kuanza transferred to Bayer. Additionally, Portuguese forward Diogo Jota died in a car accident last month.
