Russia's Attack on Ukraine Using Drones and Missiles

• The attack by Russia included 47 drones and missiles

On the night of August 8-9, Russian forces carried out a significant attack on Ukraine, using 47 Shahed UAVs and two Iskander-K missiles. The attack was aimed at the frontline areas in the Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, and Donetsk regions, while the missiles struck the Dnipro.

According to reports, the drones were launched from the Russian cities of Kursk, Millerovo, and Shatalovo, while the missiles were from the temporarily occupied part of the Zaporizhzhia region. Ukrainian forces reportedly managed to destroy 16 drones and one missile during the countermeasures.

Overall, the Ukrainian side confirmed 31 engagements of Shahed drones in 15 different locations. Nevertheless, the percentage of destroyed drones stood at only 34%, which is the lowest indicator since the beginning of the full-scale invasion.

It is noted that earlier in attacks, the opponent had fixed significantly higher indicators of destroyed drones, up to 90%. Recently, the opponent has been attempting to attack the main object at the frontline, which limits the capabilities of the Ukrainian air defense.
