Inter Miami confirmed Messi's absence against Orlando
- Messi will not play against Orlando due to injury.
- The team intends to win all matches.
- It is expected that Messi will return on August 16.
This was reported by ESPN, Marca.
The head coach of Inter Miami, Javier Mascherano, confirmed that Lionel Messi will not participate in the match against Orlando City, which will take place this weekend. Mascherano stated that this would be particularly risky for the player, considering the accumulated match schedule.
Messi suffered a "minor" injury to his right leg during the League Cup match against Necaxa on August 2. The player's return remains uncertain, and the club is hoping for a positive response to the treatment.
"No, Leo will not be available tomorrow," said Mascherano. "Leo feels normal, but it would be reckless to risk his health, considering that there are many important matches ahead. We are optimistically set for his quick return."
Inter Miami plays against Orlando City on September 9, and then will face Los Angeles Galaxy on September 16 and play in the League Cup quarterfinals on September 20.
Mascherano emphasized the importance of protecting the health of players, as the team must aim for victory in all matches. "We play to win, and we want to finish in first place in the regular season," he added.
Messi may miss several matches due to injury, but he could return as early as September 16 against Los Angeles Galaxy, as well as on September 20 against Tigres in the League Cup.
