On August 8, the Los Angeles Dodgers held a special evening dedicated to the NBA legend Kobe Bryant, featuring a bobblehead giveaway at Dodger Stadium. The date was chosen in honor of number 8, which Bryant wore during the first half of his career.
At the event, Kobe's widow, Vanessa Bryant, and their daughters: Natalia, Bianka, and Capri, were present. During the game against the Toronto Blue Jays, Bianka threw the ceremonial first pitch, which evoked cheers from the more than 53,000 fans in attendance.
The first 40,000 attendees received a unique Bryant figure, which was designed earlier this year. This figure depicts Bryant in Lakers uniform number 24 and Nike sneakers, styled in Dodgers colors.
The tribute to Bryant was also part of the Dodgers' tradition, which has previously hosted similar events to honor the memory of their legends. He passed away in January 2020 as a result of a helicopter crash, which also claimed the life of his 13-year-old daughter Gianna.
This evening was not only a tribute to Bryant but also featured an exciting game between MLB legends Clayton Kershaw and Max Scherzer, where the Dodgers won with a score of 5-1.
