Ministers of Foreign Affairs Support Ukraine Ahead of Trump-Putin Meeting

Ministers of Foreign Affairs from the Baltic states and the Czech Republic expressed support for Ukraine ahead of the scheduled meeting between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin, which will take place on September 15, 2025, in Alais.

Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna emphasized that they support the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. He noted that changing borders by force poses a threat to the freedom of all nations.

Latvian Foreign Minister Baiba Braze welcomed President Trump’s commitment to stopping Russia’s aggression, emphasizing that peace must be just and include Ukraine.

Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kestutis Budrys stated that borders, sovereignty, and independence of Ukraine are "not up for negotiation." He also confirmed that every inch of Ukrainian territory belongs to its people, who are fighting for freedom.

Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavsky stressed that Russia has no right to decide issues concerning Ukraine. He emphasized that this issue should only be resolved by Ukraine and its allies.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Russia aims to repeat the Crimean scenario, seeking to obtain a pause in the war under the guise of preserving occupied territories. He also confirmed that Ukraine will not cede its territories and that this issue is enshrined in the Constitution.

Along with the announcements, European countries and Ukraine have prepared a plan that rejects any Russian pretenses to Ukrainian territory, demanding unconditional cessation of hostilities before the start of peace negotiations.
