- Newcastle United received a proposal from Liverpool for Isak, which was declined.
- The club plans to sign defender Malick Tiave from AC Milan.
- Head coach Eddie Howe emphasized the need for more players who want to play for Newcastle.
Newcastle United is actively preparing for the start of a new season, simultaneously resolving the issue regarding the future of forward Alexander Isak. Head coach Eddie Howe reported that the club received a proposal from Liverpool in the amount of £110 million sterling, which was declined. Isak is currently training separately from the team due to a minor thigh injury and, as it is reported, expresses a desire to explore the possibility of a transfer to another club.
Howe stated that the situation with Isak is complicated, as he has no remaining clause in the accepted decision. "Everything is in the hands of other people," said the coach. The club is also interested in signing defender Malick Tiave from AC Milan, for whom they plan to pay €35 million with possible add-ons of €5 million. Tiave, a 24-year-old German defender, is a long-term target for Newcastle.
Recently, Newcastle suffered a defeat against Atletico Madrid with a score of 2-0. The main problem of the team lies in the insufficient number of forwards, especially after the departure of Callum Wilson, which underscores the need to sign a new player for that position. Eddie Howe noted that he needs more players who genuinely want to play for the club to strengthen the squad before the start of the season.
