Los Angeles — A group of thieves stole nearly $7000 worth of Labubu toys from a store in the Los Angeles area at the beginning of this week.
The incident took place early in the morning in the city of La Puente, approximately 29 kilometers east of Los Angeles, according to the sheriff's department of Los Angeles County. Along with the information from the department, the thieves used a stolen Toyota Tacoma truck, which was quickly found. An investigation is underway, but no additional information is available at this time.
Labubu toys, created by Hong Kong artist Kasing Lung, have become a popular collectible over the past decade since their introduction.
The owner of the One Stop Shop store on Instagram reported that the thieves "took all our stock and destroyed the store." In the post, the store shared surveillance footage showing a group of people in hoodies and with covered faces inside. The thieves rummaged through the merchandise and carried boxes out of the store.
"We are still in shock," — it is stated in the store's announcement, where they also urged people to help identify the criminals.
