At the evening protest in Tel Aviv, which took place on September 9, 2025, thousands of people expressed discontent with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's plans to seize Gaza. Protesters demanded an immediate cessation of military actions and the release of hostages who remained in the hands of Hamas.
Earlier that same day, the Israeli security cabinet announced a decision to expand military operations in Gaza, including the seizure of Gaza. This decision sparked widespread criticism among the public, as well as warnings from military officials about potential danger to hostages.
Surveys by the public opinion research show that most Israelis support a swift conclusion to the war to ensure the release of nearly 50 hostages who remained in Gaza, of whom about 20 are considered alive. According to reports, the majority of released hostages were freed as a result of diplomatic negotiations.
Among military leaders, there is also opposition to Netanyahu's plan. General Lieutenant Eyal Zamir, head of the General Staff, warned that the expansion of military actions in Gaza could lead to the deaths of more Israeli soldiers and endanger the lives of hostages.
At the same time, the international reaction to Israel's decisions continues to intensify. Germany, the United Kingdom, and Australia have expressed intentions for Israel to expand military operations, while Germany has announced a ban on the export of military equipment to Israel.
According to assessments, the new phase of the war not only increases tensions in the region but also places Israel's international image under threat, which has already suffered serious blows.
