Three people died while swimming in the sea in the Odesa region as a result of explosions from unknown objects. The incident occurred on August 10, around 11:30, between the villages of Zatoka and Karolino-Buhaz. The explosions occurred approximately 50 meters from the shore.

According to the regional police, one person died in Karolino-Buhaz, while two others died in Zatoka. All of them were victims of explosive devices, being in areas where swimming is prohibited.

The head of the Odesa regional military administration, Oleg Kiper, stated that there are 32 officially safe zones for swimming in the region, which have undergone checks for the presence of explosives. Nevertheless, the beaches in Zatoka are not included in the list of open areas for recreation, although the resort continues to welcome tourists.

On site of the incident, investigative teams, divers, and rescuers are working to establish the circumstances of the tragedy. In June of this year, two people also died in Zatoka as a result of an explosion of a mine.
