New midfielder for Newcastle signs contract with AC Milan

  • Newcastle signs midfielder Malick Tiava from AC Milan.
  • The team is facing difficulties due to PSR restrictions.
  • Player Alexander Isak wants to stay with the club.

Newcastle United is close to signing midfielder Malick Tiava from AC Milan.

The central midfielder is expected to arrive in Tyneside on Sunday evening to finalize the deal. According to information, the transfer will cost around £34.62 million (40 million euros), including bonuses.

This signing is also part of manager Eddie Howe's efforts to strengthen the team and reduce the average age of the squad. Howe has previously stated that Tiava is "a very good player."

Currently, Newcastle is struggling with challenges in the transfer market due to restrictions imposed by the Premier League's profitability and sustainability regulations (PSR). Howe noted that these restrictions limit the club's ability to operate in transfers.

This summer, the club has targeted several transfer goals, including Benjamin Sesko and Hugo Ekitike, but also has issues with player Alexander Isak, who wants to leave the team.

Moreover, during the last friendly match against Atletico Madrid, he suffered an injury from winger Antonin Gordon, which further complicated the situation in the team.

Howe hopes that signing Tiava will help improve the situation in the team before the start of the season.
