Tadej Pogačar Plans Future After Success at the Tour de France

  • Pogačar plans to focus on future competitions after his success at the Tour de France.
  • He declined to participate in the Vuelta, but will take part in the European Championship.
  • Pogačar expressed thoughts about a possible comeback after 2028.

Tadej Pogačar, the Slovenian cyclist, after his triumph at the Tour de France, shared his thoughts on his future and a potential comeback. He is already "considering retirement years before going on pension," which indicates his awareness of the limitations of a career in sports.

In July, Pogačar earned his fourth yellow jersey, surpassing the superstar Jonas Vingegaard. Despite his young age, he already has a significant collection of titles, including victories at the Giro d'Italia and world championships.

Although Pogačar is usually full of energy, during the last Tour de France he experienced some difficulties, including illness. "This was one of the toughest races I have ever participated in," he noted.

After his success at the Tour de France, Pogačar returned to competition, winning the criterion in his homeland in Komenda. He also plans to focus on the European Championship, which will take place on July 5 in France, and on upcoming classic races in Canada.

The cyclist confirmed that he will not participate in the Vuelta, but plans to take part in the world championship in Rwanda and the Tour of Lombardy. "This will be a championship for 'mountain' cyclists, so I will probably be there," Pogačar noted.
