NASCAR Driver Crashed During Celebration of Victory
- Gilech received an injury during the celebration of victory at Watkins Glen.
- The driver confirmed that his injuries are not serious, except for the broken key.
- He will miss the next race in the Cup Series due to injury.
NASCAR Xfinity driver Connor Gilech crashed after he fell from the roof of his car during the celebration of victory.
19-year-old Gilech was celebrating his sixth victory of the season at Watkins Glen International in New York. He climbed onto the roof of his Chevrolet to mark the success, when he lost his balance and fell onto the pavement. As a result, he suffered a concussion and fell on the concrete.
After the crash, the driver was taken to the medical center on the track, where he was conscious. Later he was transferred to the hospital for further examination. Gilech confirmed on social media that scans of his head and neck did not reveal serious injuries, but the key was broken.
Gilech is considered a promising star in the sport and plans to secure a permanent place in the NASCAR Cup Series in 2026. He has already secured five victories in eight races this season, despite the fact that earlier he suffered an injury during a crash at Talladega in April.
After the incident, there is no clear information about the terms of Gilech's recovery, and he will miss the race in the Cup Series scheduled for August 10.
