Florian Wirtz received the title of Player of the Year in Germany

Florian Wirtz, the Liverpool player, was named Player of the Year in Germany for the 2024-25 season. Wirtz, who had a successful season at Bayer Leverkusen, received 191 votes from members of the Association of Sports Journalists of Germany (VDS) during the annual voting, organized by the magazine Kicker.
In second place was Michael Olise from Bavaria, who received 81 votes, followed by Nik Woltmedade from Stuttgart with 71 votes and Thomas Müller, who garnered 70 votes after his transfer to Vancouver in MLS.
In the Women's category, the Player of the Year award was shared between Julia Gvynn and Ann-Katrin Berger, who both received 608 votes.
The Coach of the Year award went to Julian Schuster, who led SC Freiburg to fifth place in the Bundesliga and secured qualification for the European League in his first season in charge.
This award for players has been presented since 1960, and for coaches - since 2002. The leader among players is Franz Beckenbauer with four awards, while Jürgen Klopp and Felix Magath have each won the Coach of the Year award three times.
