The goalkeeper Crystal Palace Dean Henderson was a key figure in the final of the Community Shield, where his team defeated Liverpool in the penalty shootout. Henderson managed to save two shots from the spot, allowing his team to win the trophy.
In the match, new Liverpool players, Hugo Ekitike and Jeremie Frimpong, both missed their penalties in the first half, but their teammates scored neutralizing goals from Jean-Philippe Mateta and Ismaila Sarr.
Mohamed Salah failed to convert his penalty, becoming one of three players who did not score during the shootout. Justin Devenney missed the final penalty for Crystal Palace, sealing the victory with a score of 3-2.
"I love big moments, I love being in such tight situations. The preparation for the penalty was wonderful," Henderson noted in a comment for TNT Sports.
"They have incredible players and a wonderful team, but winning two trophies in three months is incredible. The emotions are fantastic. When they were leading 2-1, it seemed like we would come away with the loss, but the coach said we would have chances, and we capitalized on them."
