Governor of Illinois JB Pritzker on Sunday condemned statements suggesting that President Donald Trump may be attempting to turn Democrats in Texas back to their original state to participate in voting on the issue of redistricting. The prosecutor asserts that FBI agents do not have jurisdiction to enforce Texas laws in Illinois.

Three members of the Texas legislative assembly have urged the state to eliminate evidence of arrest, which has become a frequent part of Governor Greg Abbott's Republican party's attempts to turn them back for voting on redistricting. Republicans are trying to redistrict to gain five congressional seats for their own benefit, which may lead to a general confrontation over redistricting between Republicans and Democrats.

The prosecutor noted that his administration refuses to cooperate with Texas authorities and asserts that they do not allow FBI agents to participate in illegal activities. "Texas law does not apply in the state of Illinois, and there is no federal law that would allow the FBI to arrest anyone who resides in our state," said the governor.

In addition, the prosecutor revealed how Abbott and Trump, having stated that their actions are an attempt to consolidate power for the Republican party, especially since they anticipate losses in Congress in 2026. He also emphasized that the plans of the Republicans violate the Voting Rights Act and the Constitution.

The governor stated that he is focused on the campaign for redistricting in 2026, but does not rule out the possibility of participating in the presidential elections in 2028. At that time, his Democratic colleagues are also considering the possibility of their own bids for redistricting, should Republicans continue their plans in Texas.
