Crystal Palace secured victory over Liverpool in the Community Shield, finishing the match in a draw 2-2, and then winning on penalties at Wembley Stadium. This is the second trophy for the team in three months and the first in the Community Shield.

The head coach Oliver Glasner stated that he is not ready to comment on this victory regarding participation in the European League next season, which the team may lose due to UEFA sanctions. After Crystal Palace won the FA Cup, the club received the right to participate in the European League, but due to the fact that Lyon also qualified, Palace was relegated to the League One due to joint ownership with the American businessman John Textor.

On Monday, there will be a ruling from the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) regarding the club's appeal against this decision. Glasner emphasized that the players are not focusing on the current situation and have started to celebrate the victory.

The penalty hero Dain Henderson also expressed the opinion that the team's relegation to the League One "is a disgrace." He believes that the team deserves to participate in the European League, having also secured a trophy on the field.

Club fans protested against UEFA during the matches, displaying a banner with the inscription "UEFA Mafia" and lighting flares. The protest took place before the match when the team played against Liverpool.
