This match was a rematch of their previous encounter in Wimbledon, where Norrie defeated Bautista Agut. However, in Cincinnati, despite the humidity, Norrie appeared sluggish and struggled to change his shirt during the match due to the heat.

In the first set, he suffered losses, unable to hold serve, and in the second set continued to struggle, saving several match points. However, Bautista Agut ultimately closed out the match, converting his second match point.
