- The shooter blamed his depression on the COVID-19 vaccine
- During the shooting, a police officer was killed, and four others were injured
- The CDC spokesperson demands the establishment of vaccine-related decontamination
This is reported by ABC News, The Yomiuri Shimbun.
The shooting, which occurred on Friday near the headquarters of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Georgia, ended tragically. Patrick Wight, a 30-year-old suspect, was killed during the incident, resulting in the death of police officer David Rouse. According to preliminary data, Wight believed that the COVID-19 vaccination led to his depression and other health issues.
Wight, who had five firearms with him, including one long gun, opened fire on the CDC buildings located in Atlanta. He attempted to break into the facility but was stopped by security. As a result of the shooting, several buildings were damaged, and four individuals received medical assistance due to severe stress.
Officials state that the investigation is ongoing, and information is still insufficient. Professional medical experts emphasize that the vaccines used against COVID-19 were rigorously tested and are safe.
A CDC spokesperson called for the establishment of vaccine-related decontamination, asserting that this poses a threat to public health scientists. They demand enhanced security measures on the premises to ensure the safety of personnel.
