British fighter jet made an emergency landing in Japan
- The F-35B fighter jet made an emergency landing due to engine problems.
- The incident occurred during the schedule of six commercial flights.
- This is already the second incident involving a British fighter jet in two months.
On September 11, 2025, a British F-35B fighter jet made an emergency landing at Kagosima Airport, Japan, around 11:30 AM local time. The cause of the landing was a technical failure of the engine, but no one was injured.
The aircraft, worth 88 million pounds sterling, belongs to the Carrier Strike Group of the United Kingdom, which is conducting joint exercises with Japanese and American forces as part of Operation Highmast. These exercises began on September 4 and will continue until September 12.
After the incident, operations on the yellow-landing strip were suspended for about 20 minutes. The fighter jet was relocated to a taxiway for inspection, and the Japanese Ministry of Defense confirmed that the aircraft is being inspected for a quick return to the group.
This incident marks already the second occurrence in the last two months. Earlier, another F-35B fighter jet from the same group was forced to make an emergency landing in India due to a malfunction, where it remained for five weeks.
