Ray Brooks, a British actor known for his role in EastEnders and for voicing the children's show Mr. Benn, passed away at the age of 86. He died on September 8, 2025, surrounded by family after a brief illness.

Brooks, who had lived with dementia for the last few years, was beloved by many viewers thanks to his distinctive voice, which brought to life the character of Mr. Benn, who embarked on various adventures in a magical costume. Although only 13 episodes of the show were produced, it became popular among children, as it aired for a continuous 21 years.

Brooks' sons, Will and Tom, mentioned that his three true loves were family, the football club Fulham, and Brighton, where he was born. They also recalled his role in EastEnders, where he played Joe Macer, who killed his friend Pauline Fowler in 2006.
