Lithuanian military exercises are starting near the border with Belarus

• In Lithuania, military exercises Arsus vilkas 2025 are taking place.

From August 11 to 20, in Lithuania, in the Varėna district, tactical exercises Arsus vilkas 2025 (Wolf July 2025) will be conducted. According to the press service of the Lithuanian Ministry of Defense, during the first week of the exercises, infantry units and staffs will be relocated to Varėna to perform defense actions in populated areas, with the participation of infantry fighting vehicles Vilkas and other military equipment.

During the second week, the exercises will include shooting at the level of the division at the Gaižėnų polygon. The Ministry of Defense previously reported on the intensive movement of military equipment on the roads of the Varėna district during the exercises.

At the same time, the first Russian units have arrived in Belarus to participate in joint exercises, the active phase of which is scheduled for September. According to Andriy Demchenko, a representative of the State Border Service of Ukraine, several hundred servicemen of the Russian army and dozens of units of equipment have already arrived in Belarus.

Demchenko emphasized that the units of the Belarusian army are also being relocated to Russia for training at the polygons. He noted that reconnaissance units constantly monitor the possible arrival of Russian troops in Belarus, as this direction remains a threat to Ukraine.

Joint military exercises of Russia and Belarus, which are called Exercise-2025, are scheduled for mid-September. Moscow claims that the maneuvers will be exclusively defensive. Meanwhile, the commander of the Joint Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskiy, warned that these exercises could serve as a pretext for creating offensive military groups.

The Ministry of Defense of Belarus also announced the transfer of strategic exercises Exercise-2025 deeper into the country to reduce the visibility of the neighboring states, namely Poland and Lithuania.
