Marks & Spencer has resumed its click and collect service after 15 weeks of suspension, which occurred due to a serious cyber attack. This attack led to the suspension of orders placed on the website and mobile app from February 25.
Online ordering resumed on June 10, and the company has now announced the resumption of the click and collect service. This was a major service that had been suspended following the attack.
As a result of the attack, not only the online operations of the company were affected, but also physical stores, where products became scarce. M&S estimates losses from the cyber attack at nearly £300 million, but hopes that part of the loss will be covered by insurance.
General Director of M&S Stuart Machin reported that the company hopes to return to normal operations by September.
As a consequence of the attack, client data was also stolen, which may include names, email addresses, postal addresses, and dates of birth. Four young people were arrested on suspicion in connection with these attacks.
