Crystal Palace Club Awaits Decision on European League

Goalkeeper Crystal Palace Dean Henderson stated that the club's exclusion from the European League "would diminish the competition," while they await a decision from the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) regarding the UEFA decision.
The club qualified for the European League after winning the FA Cup against Manchester City, which became the first major trophy in the club's history. However, UEFA stripped Crystal Palace of the right to play in the European League due to violations of rules regarding club ownership.
The club failed to meet the deadline of January 1 for confirmation that American co-owner John Textor, who is also a part-owner of Lyon, does not control more than one club in the same competition. UEFA ruled that only one of the clubs could participate in the European League, and Lyon, which finished in sixth place in League 1, was favored over Crystal Palace.
Crystal Palace filed an appeal to CAS, seeking to overturn UEFA's decision. The hearing took place on August 8, and a decision is expected on Monday.
"We won the FA Cup, we deserve to be in the European League," Henderson said in an interview with BBC Radio 5 Live after the victory in the Super Cup against Liverpool. "For footballing reasons, we should be in the European League. Unfortunately, I believe that this exclusion from the competition means we will not be in the European League."
The club also announced that co-owner New York Jets Robert Wood "Woody" Johnson signed a legal agreement regarding the purchase of a stake in the club.
Henderson expressed hope that the club could return to the European League, emphasizing the president of the club Steve Parish in the fight for the club's reinstatement in the competition.
