According to information from a representative of the rescue service, the fire is spreading over a large area and, as of early Monday, two fire engines remained on site to extinguish specific hotspots. The fire has generated a significant amount of smoke, which was visible from a considerable distance. However, fortunately, no casualties have been reported.

Arthur's Seat, which is a popular tourist attraction located in Holyrood Park and is an extinct volcano, offers panoramic views of the old part of the city and surrounding territory. The fire broke out during the ongoing Edinburgh Festival, the largest festival of performing arts in the world, which has attracted a large number of tourists.

This incident occurred after Scotland reported waves of wildfires in the summer, particularly in July. At that time, northern parts of the country experienced a large-scale fire that lasted several days.

A similar fire at Arthur's Seat occurred in 2019, when the rescue service spent several hours on its extinguishing.
