Attempts to Buy Sheffield Wednesday: News on the Investment
- John Textor and Kit Harris are attempting to buy Sheffield Wednesday.
- The club is facing financial difficulties and protests from the fans.
- The owner rejected a proposal for 40 million pounds.
John Textor joined forces with financier Kit Harris in an attempt to buy Sheffield Wednesday. Harris, a former investment banker, has previously participated in several deals involving the purchase of clubs, such as West Ham, Manchester City, and Aston Villa. After the failed attempt to buy Everton, Textor is now focusing on Sheffield Wednesday.
The club is undergoing a serious financial situation. Owner, Dejfon Chansiri, rejected a proposal for 40 million pounds from an American consortium and is now demanding nearly 100 million pounds for the sale of the club. In recent months, players have been receiving delays in salary payments, but recently they received 2.7 million pounds from the Premier League, which allowed them to ease the backlog.
At the start of the new season, the club is facing protests from the fans, who are demanding changes in management. Many fans remained outside the stadium during the match against Leicester through closed turnstiles, expressing their dissatisfaction with Chansiri. The fans have decided to boycott the sale of official club merchandise and not occupy their seats at matches until the situation changes.
Additional problems arise due to the closure of the northern stand of Hillsborough Stadium, which may prevent thousands of fans from attending upcoming matches. The new head coach Henrik Pedersen is trying to resolve these issues, but the situation remains tense.
