Mark Chapman has been appointed the host of the first episode of Match of the Day following the departure of Gary Lineker. He will be part of a new trio of hosts, which also includes Kelly Cates and Gabby Logan. This team will work in rotation throughout the season.

Chapman will present the program on Saturday, while Cates will host the program on Wednesday, where highlights from the UEFA Super Cup and a preview of the new Premier League season will be shown. Logan, in her turn, will host the program on Sunday.

BBC announced the new hosting team on January 15, following lengthy discussions about who would take Lineker's place. He decided to remain in the position until the end of the FA Cup and the World Cup 2026 qualifiers, but on April 26, 2025, he will conduct the last program.

Lineker, who stepped back from his position on social media, believes that his departure will be for the best for everyone. Cates and Logan have significant experience in sports journalism, having worked at BBC and other channels.
