Discussing Security: Al-Larijani Represents Iraq in Lebanon

Baghdad — September 11, 2025, the head of Iran's Supreme Security Council, Ali Larijani, represented Iraq for discussions on an important security agreement between the two countries. According to Larijani, the agreement was prepared prior to his visit, but details remain undisclosed.
Prime Minister of Iraq, Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, confirmed that he met with Larijani and discussed the signing of a joint security agreement regarding security coordination on a joint border. At the meeting, there were also present Iraqi high-ranking officials, who emphasized the importance of preventing any threats to neighboring countries.
Larijani also highlighted the balance of external politics of Iraq, while both sides discussed the situation in the region, including the situation in Gaza.
After the visit to Iraq, Larijani will head to Lebanon, where he will meet with government officials to discuss the plan to dismantle the "Hezbollah" party, which is an ally of Iran. Iran expressed its opposition to this plan, considering it an intrusion into Lebanon's internal affairs.
Larijani noted that cooperation with the Lebanese government is ongoing and deep, and that Iran supports Lebanon's right to self-defense.
