On August 10, 2025, a tragic incident occurred in Gaza, in which journalist Anas al-Sharif was killed, along with four other colleagues, as a result of an Israeli airstrike. This attack took place near the Al-Shifa hospital, where journalists were covering the humanitarian crisis in the region.
Anas al-Sharif, who worked for Al Jazeera, was born in a camp for refugees in Jabalia, and documented events in Gaza for 677 days. He was accused of supporting Hamas, despite the fact that he was often seen in connection with the auditor.
This incident has become part of a tragic trend, as since the beginning of the war in July 2023, over 230 journalists have been killed in Gaza. This is the deadliest conflict for media representatives in modern history. Not only journalists but also over 400 humanitarian workers have become victims of violence.
Anas al-Sharif left a posthumous message, in which he did not forget to mention Gaza and its people. He expressed hope that his words would become evidence for the world about the suffering of the Palestinian people.
