Alex Palou, a 28-year-old driver from Chip Ganassi Racing, has secured his fourth IndyCar championship title, making him a three-time champion consecutively (2023, 2024, 2025). His victory came at the Portland Grand Prix, where he finished third, which was sufficient to secure the title.
Palou started from the third row, implementing his strategic mastery to get ahead of competitors Will Power (Team Penske) and Christian Lundgaard (Arrow McLaren). However, despite his attempts to overtake them, he only managed to finish third, as both superstars were ahead.
His only rival for the title, Mexican Pato O'Ward (Arrow McLaren), experienced a setback due to electrical problems and finished 25th. This allowed Palou to accumulate 626 points, which is 151 points more than O'Ward and 215 points more than Scott Dixon.
This championship has become a significant achievement for Palou, who is now on par with legends like Mario Andretti and Dario Franchitti, who also won four titles. Only Scott Dixon (six titles) and A. J. Foyt (seven titles) have more championship titles in IndyCar history.
